The Waiver Wire: Gameweek 18

Those who think Fantrax Leagues are won and lost at the draft are wrong. Very wrong.

In fact this is where the winners will be winners because of their sharp eye for a bargain and the losers will be losers because…well, they ignore the Waiver Wire.

Each week, we will analyse those low ownership players that could win you your match up or even become a mainstay in your roster for weeks and months. Here is what the Gameweek 18 Waiver Wire has to offer

Ezri Konsa – Aston Villa – Defender

The first pick of our extremely limited waiver Wire this week is Villa’s Ezri Konsa, due largely to him facing up to Burnley this week.

It’s a commonly used point on this site that facing up to Burnley’s aerial bombardment usually brings easy aerial points for defender’s and this would be a timely boost for Konsa’s fairly limited ghost points. Clean sheets seem to be on Steven Gerard’s agenda too since taking the Villa hot seat.

Jacob Ramsey – Aston Villa – Midfielder

Yes, more Aston Villa…but surely it’s understandable under the circumstances!

Jacob Ramsey’s goal at Norwich was an absolute stunner and he’s clearly a young player brimming with confidence. As mentors go for a young central midfielder, you could do much worse than gaffer Steven Gerrard. This guy’s potential is endless!

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain – Liverpool – Midfielder

This week is not the week to be short on forwards as I can’t find a single low ownership forward I’d be confident in recommending.

Therefore, I’ve gone for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain who has enjoyed a revival in a Liverpool shirt in recent weeks. With Fabinho out with COVID, Ox should keep his place this week but arguably deserves it on merit due to his fine form.

Ruben Loftus Cheek And Daniel Podence our forward strong arguments too for similar reasons.
