The Waiver Wire: Gameweek 33

Those who think Fantrax Leagues are won and lost at the draft are wrong. Very wrong.

In fact this is where the winners will be winners because of their sharp eye for a bargain and the losers will be losers because…well, they ignore the Waiver Wire.

Each week, we will analyse those low ownership players that could win you your match up or even become a mainstay in your roster for weeks and months. Here is what the Gameweek 33 Waiver Wire has to offer.

Ahmed El Mohammady | Aston Villa | Defender

Matty Cash’s suspension will see back up right back Ahmed Elmohammady get another rare appearance in Villa’s upcoming game at home to West Brom. The Egyptian’s attacking numbers weren’t all that impressive during his last short stint in the side while Cash was injured but you’d expect plenty of forward runs and crosses against a side all but doomed to relegation following their comprehensive loss at Leicester.

Dan Burn | Brighton | Defender

Gameweek 32 saw Dan Burn return to the starting lineup for Brighton. He returned to help provide an unexpected clean sheet at Stamford Bridge too! Burn’s aerial dominance and license to get forward often provide a decent platform for a good points return and he cane away from a difficult assignment vs Chelsea with 20 points. Next up is a much easier task (on paper) against already relegated Sheffield United.

Gabriel Martinelli | Arsenal | Midfielder

Gabriel Martinelli is one of those players who always looks like the liveliest player on the pitch when he’s fit. That doesn’t always seem to translate to fantasy points for some reason. That’s changed over the last two weeks, however, as he followed his goal at Sheffield United with a 15.5 ghost point haul against Fulham last week. I’d expect the in form Brazilian to start again this week against a new Everton defence which seems scared of clean sheets.

Danny Welbeck | Brighton | Forward

Brighton are now all but safe now, largely thanks to striker Danny Welbeck. His experience and (most importantly) his goals have seen him become sure starter when fit. He will no doubt be looking forward to getting stuck into already relegated Sheffield United this week!
