Those who think Fantrax Leagues are won and lost at the draft are wrong. Very wrong.
In fact this is where the winners will be winners because of their sharp eye for a bargain and the losers will be losers because…well, they ignore the Waiver Wire.
Each week, we will analyse those low ownership players that could win you your match up or even become a mainstay in your roster for weeks and months. Here is what the Gameweek 26 waiver wire has to offer!
Shkodran Mustafi | Arsenal | Defender | 18% owned
This seemed unthinkable a few weeks ago but Shkodran Mustafi is a must add for your team if you can get hold if him!
Arsenal’s vast defensive improvement has coincided with Mustafi’s return to the side and he was arguably their best player in the 0-0 draw at Burnley, a performance which earned him 17.75 points in Togga scoring.
The German has always been an absolute machine when it comes to scoring points in this format and he gas another chance to continue his run in their next fixture against Newcastle.
The fact that he was rushed vack from an ankle injury for this week’s game demonstrates how highly Mikel Arteta rates Mustafi. If he’s available, snap him up!
Jack Stephens | Southampton | Defender | 18% owned
Jack Stephens and Southampton were on the end of a one sided scoreline at Anfield last Saturday but that was far from the whole story as the Saints acquitted themselves extremely well against runaway leaders Liverpool.
Their performance suggested this week was just a minor blip and they will look to put that behind them when they facr Burnley next time around. Stephens tends to score well when Southampton play well and he has four scores of 13 or over in his last eight games.
He’s good in the air too which is a factor to consider whenever any defender faces a side like Burnley. Aerials equal easy points!
Solly March | Brighton | Midfielder | 25% owned
This could turn out to be a great under the radar punt! Solly March hasn’t seen much action for Brighton this season, largely due to his fitness. However, when given the chance, he’s a very good scorer in the Togga scoring format.
March came on for 18 minutes in Brighton’s 3-3 draw but scored 7.5 points in that short cameo. He’s not yet at the level to drop a player if value for him as his starting place is still in doubt at Brighton. However, he’s definitely one to hold on to if you’ve got that spare roster spot.
Christian Benteke | Crystal Palace | Forward | 16% owned
I’ve spent $20 of my $100 FAAB budget on Christian Benteke over two transfers in one of my leagues this year. Simply, he’s the ghost points king.
The big Belgian was back this weekend and managed 11 points in Togga scoring despite his and his team’s failure to score a goal.
If he can rediscover his goalscoring touch he’s a genuine FWD1 in the draft game. It’s a big if but even if he continues to be shy in front of goal, Benteke is well worth an add.
