Differential Potential: Gameweek 19

Simple fact: a good differential pick is the difference between winning a crucial Fantrax matchup 99% of the time. It’s all very well (and also, essential) having a core of top players. However, that low ownership gem that no one thought of can, more often than not, be the difference between a narrow loss and a convincing win which leaves your rivals in awe of your football knowledge.

Each week on Fantasy Football 92, we pick a full eleven consisting of low ownership players which you can help yourselves to in your league in order to (hopefully) grab yourself the win. All of our differentials are 60% owned or lower.

Here are your picks for Gameweek 19!

Goalkeeper

Paulo Gazzaniga | Tottenham Hotspur | 38% Owned

Tottenham’s defence has been the leakiest in the Premier League since Jose Mourinho took over: not quite what was expected. Paulo Gazzaniga still scores well most weeks due to the number of saves he is forced to make! Brighton at home on Boxing Day should be a good chance of keeping a rare clean sheet.

Defenders

John Egan | Sheffield United | 60% Owned

It’s a surprise to see a Sheffield United defender with a differential ownership at this stage of the season. John Egan has scored well consistently and was also unfortunate to see a goal ruled out in Gameweek 18.

The Blades go up against a side in Watford who don’t score many goals (everyone scores against Manchester United nowadays) and Egan will likely be tasked with handling Troy Deeney’s aerial presence. A good score should be on the cards.

Djibril Sidibe | Everton | 42% Owned

Djibril Sidibe already scores well in Fantrax thanks to his attacking threat. You’d expect that the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti will tighten Everton’s defence which will only serve to increase the Frenchman’s value.

Callum Chambers | Arsenal | 25% Owned

Gameweek 18 saw an early Christmas miracle occur: an Arsenal clean sheet! Callum Chambers was a big part of the shut out of Everton in a dour game at Goodison and you’d expect that new manager Mikel Arteta will keep Chambers in the heart of the defence. His competition isn’t up to much…

Fabian Balbuena | West Ham United | 8% Owned

Despite West Ham’s defensive woes, Fabian Balbuena has scored well consistently so far this season. Balbuena is dominant in the air and tends to be the more aggressive of the two West Ham Centre backs.

With Christian Benteke back in the fold at Crystal Palace, the Hammers will expect an aerial bombardment which should mean some easy ghost points for Balbuena even if he doesn’t keep a clean sheet.

Midfielders

Connor Hourihane | Aston VIlla | 19% Owned

Connor Hourihane hardly shone in Villa’s dour performance at home against Southampton last week but he gets another go for us this week in a must win game against Norwich City.

John McGinn’s long term absence may mean Hourihane now gets a more advanced role or at least a dominance of Villa’s left footed set pieces.

Pablo Fornals | West Ham United | 30% Owned

Three assists in four games suggest Pablo Fornals is finally getting accustomed to life in England.

The young Spaniard came with a big reputation and failed to deliver to start with but now looks to be finding his place in the side. He will need to maintain his excellent form with Manuel Lanzini returning to the fold.

Fred | Manchester United | 37% Owned

Along with Scott Mctominay and Marcus Rashford, Fred has managed to help Manchester United stay in touch with the top four as the team’s inconststency threatens to derail their season.

The Brazilian is finally justifying his big price tag and is getting good Fantrax scores too. Also manages to claim a share of set piece duties which adds to his value.

Forwards

Dominic Calvert-Lewin | Everton | 58% Owned

Dominic Calvert Lewin is one of those who had benefited the most from Everton’s new era.

The young English forward looks to be one of those whose place in the side is safe under Carlo Ancelotti thanks to impressive recent performances. He will relish the physical challenge against Burnley this weekend.

Ismaila Sarr | Watford | 30% Owned

A goal and assist against Manchester United in Gameweek 18 has helped Ismaila Sarr to put his Anfield nightmare behind him.

Watford’s record signing now looks the real deal and is one to squeeze into your side if you have chance.

Christian Benteke | Crystal Palace | 24% Owned

We’ve spoken a lot about Christian Benteke in recent weeks. In short, if he’s available in your league, get him in!
