The 16th Man: Gameweek 13

A good Fantrax manager successfully builds a starting XI to be feared. A winning Fantrax manager builds a fearsome squad of 16 to be reckoned with!

The aim of this feature is to provide you with several options with which to fill that 16th roster spot ahead of a match day. If it doesn’t work out, you can simply dump them back on to the Waiver Wire.

For one reason or another, the players who feature in this article every week won’t be one to use a waiver on and will certainly be too much of a risk to start in our Differential XI, whether that be due to the fact they’re coming back from injury or working at earning a recall.

Here are your 16th man contenders for Gameweek 13!

Divock Origi | Liverpool | Forward | 55% Owned

Rarely does an international break pass without me picking up Divock Origi. With plenty of the miles in the African duo Mo Salah and Sadio Mane and Brazilian Roberto Firmino, you’d expect Origi to get a chance. Salah looks like he may struggling with a knock this time too. When Origi gets a chance, he normally takes it.

Troy Deeney | Watford | Forward | 82% Owned

Troy Deeney’s ownership suggests we may have missed the boat in this one. His long term injury is the only reason its not at 100%. The return of Watford’s main man is imminent. If, for some reason, he’s available in your league, now is the time to pounce.

Michail Antonio | West Ham | Midfielder | 45% Owned

Another Fantrax favourite returning from injury. West Ham are awful at the moment so Michail Antonio may be the spark that’s needed. The bustling midfielder scores very well in Fantrax scoring. If you have a spare roster spot, this is the guy to hold.

James Milner | Liverpool | Midfielder | 36% Owned

Another one of those players to grab hold of during an international break. James Milner looks forward to a relaxing fortnight when the internationals come around and I’d refreshed ahead of Liverpool’s hectic run of games. You’d expect minutes for Millie, especially if Andy Robertson really is struggling with injury.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin | Everton | Forward | 18% Owned

First real punt of the article. Dominic Calvert Lewin has fallen out of favour again at Everton through no real fault of his own. As much as he’s not first choice, he’s not as far off as Moise Kean and with Cenk Tosun struggling with a knock he may get the nod against Norwich’s generous defence in Gameweek 13.

Tom Cleverley | Watford | Midfielder | 27% Owned

Similar story to Antonio, Tom Cleverley has had a decent start to the season and scores very well in Fantrax. Returning from injury just as Deeney does, he now has someone to aim his pinpoint crosses at.

Sofiane Boufal | Southampton | Midfielder | 9% Owned

Sofiane Boufal is one of the poster boys of this site. He’s fallen out of favour again at Southampton but brought a lacklustre Saints side to life after his half time introduction against Everton. His latest cameo could very easily lead to more minutes ahead of some must win game for the struggling Saints.

Hector Bellerin | Arsenal | Defender | 45% Owned

You’d expect Hector Bellerin to regain that right back spot at Arsenal very soon, especially as he’s one of their mant club captains. He’s well worth a shout for your 16th roster spot ahead of a nice run of fixtures.

Seamus Coleman | Everton | Defender | 55% Owned

There’s not a lot of basis for this one apart from that Marco Silva seems to enjoy chopping and changing every position on the pitch. Djibril Sidibe gas been OK and so has Seamus Coleman. Whoever gets the nod against Norwich is worth a start in your Fantrax team.

Xherdan Shaqiri | Liverpool | Forward | 0% Owned

The biggest punt of the lot. Only pick up Xherdan Shaqiri if you have 15 very good players already. The supremely talented Swiss star is almost certainly on the way out of Liverpool in January. If he ever starts again for the Reds, get him in. What’s more likely is a move in January. If there’s any rumours of a switch to somewhere like West Ham or Newcastle in a month and a half, make sure you’re ahead of the game on Shaqiri ad that’s when his value will rise dramatically. It’s a big if.
