Those who think Fantrax Leagues are won and lost at the draft are wrong. Very wrong.
In fact this is where the winners will be winners because of their sharp eye for a bargain and the losers will be losers because…well, they ignore the Waiver Wire.
Each week, we will analyse those low ownership players that could win you your match up or even become a mainstay in your roster for weeks and months. Here is what the Gameweek 7 waiver wire has to offer!
Diego Rico | Bournemouth (DEF) | 20% Ownership
Like Sofiane Boufal, Diego Rico is a player we have gone on and on about for months. He’s justified our support with two assists in two weeks and, for that reason, should be your number one waiver wire pick for Gameweek 7.
Back-to-back assists has shot has average points per match to 13.58. His ownership still lies at a measly 20%.
Rico has hold of set piece duty at Bournemouth, especially in Ryan Fraser’s absence, meaning that a trio of assists isn’t out of the question. If he’s on your waiver wire, get him in.
Frederic Guilbert | Aston Villa (DEF) | 34% Ownership
Frederic Guilbert could easily be this year’s Aaron Wan Bissaka: he’s incredibly hard to dribble past.
Felipe Anderson tried and failed on numerous occasions in Gameweek 5, contributing to Guilbert’s impressive return of 19.75.
The Frenchman impressed in pre season thanks to a couple of assists but it’s his defensive contributions catching the eye this year. The past three gameweeks have brought about four tackles won and 12 interceptions, suggesting Guilbert should be good for easy points this season. This week’s matchup against Burnley should see some more good scoring for the Villa full back.
Fikayo Tomori | Chelsea (DEF) | 32% Ownership
Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham have stolen all the headlines when it comes to the Chelsea youngsters but the emergence of Fikayo Tomori shouldn’t be ignored.
The young defender burst on to the scene with a 25 yard screamer in the 5-2 win at Wolves but his display against the firepower of Liverpool on Sunday should be stronger evidence that Tomori will be a mainstay in the heart of the Chelsea backline.
The Blues have struggled for clean sheets this season but Gameweek 7’s match up against goal shy Brighton represents a good chance of a shut out.
Ahmed El Ghazi | Aston Villa (MID) | 17% Ownership
Ahmed El Ghazi has been victim of squad rotation at Aston Villa at the start of this season but his last two performances should ensure he keeps his place for Gameweek 7.
The winger scored a healthy 12.5 without an attacking return in week five against West Ham before providing a perfect assist for John McGinn at the Emirates.
After successive poor results against 10 men, Villa will be out to attack against Burnley, making El Ghazi an excellent low ownership asset to get hold of.
Allan Saint-Maximin | Newcastle United (FWD) | 13% Ownership
We all love an explosive fantasy option and in Allan Saint-Maximin, we may have found the next Adama Traore.
Newcastle’s new winger looks like he has the potential to frustrate and excite in equal measure. While the end product may not be there immediately, Saint-Maximin will be getting toon fans off their seats between now and the end of the season.
One key pass, one shot on target and three dribbles in his 17 minutes against Brighton at the weekend led to 6.5 points scored in an explosive cameo. Encouraging signs for Toon fans and Fantrax owners alike.
Time to grab him off your waiver wire if he’s available.
