Draftiola’s rankings: Top 168 draft picks 2019/20

First things first, you must be asking why 168.. To be frank, I don’t know either, but it’s a good mid ground between 10 & 12 team leagues, isn’t it?

Let’s dive right into it.

1-2: Obviously it’s Salah, Sterling & the rest to start with. There goes our first dropoff point.

3-6: Moving to prime spots.. I’d be happy with them all, but Kane & Aguero are on top as they’re also on penalties. Kudos to Mane for moving to this category!

7: Auba is alone at 7th spot for me. I expect him to go around 7th in most of the leagues. A small dropoff here.

8-11: Moving to prime midfielders & Firmino. Very similar to the gamble at 3-6 picks. Some may argue Firmino being the dropoff at 11th spot.

12-14: On to team-son. Key players of last year, and kings of key passes. Sigurdsson, Maddisson & Anderson.

15-22: Another big gamble here. This part of the list is a combination of great year long performers & great 2nd half performers from last year, assuming they can replicate. And Rashford… Assuming he’s the only Utd striker.

23-24: Not a fan of picking a defender this early in draft, but oh well, they deserved. Very close call in between Trent & Digne for the top defender spot. Can you believe they both averaged close to 20ppm in the last 3 months of 18/19?!

25-34: An interesting list here, full of D, M & Fs. Had to separate VVD from Trent / Digne bucket, he belongs here now. I can easily see Redmond passing the likes of Dilva & Wilson this year, so dropoff’s right after him.

35-39: Robertson is good, but not as good as in FPL format. Think I’m even being generous by including him above Doherty but fine.

40-44: Ok, I’m really not a fan of Richarlison. He’s way too overrated for togga-scoring, lucky to get my 40th pick. Willian, Miki & Martial could be steals if they actually nail a starting spot.

45-52: This pick totally depends on the team structure so far. Almiron, Deeney & Moutinho are guaranteed starters, and you know more or less what you’ll get from them. If you want upside, Jesus, Arnautovic, Lukaku & CHO offers better value, assuming they’ll stay & start.

53-60: Next defender comes in the shape of Trippier, thanks to his key passes. RLC surely deserves a higher pick but can you afford keeping him injured? Giroud & Moura also offers high upside, if they end up starting 20+ games.

61-67: A great DEF2 list. Personally hated Alonslow last year, but he may offer decent value if he’s the first choice left back. Keane is still a little better than the rest in this bucket.

68-71: Wouldn’t be surprised to see Grealish & Buendia move up the ranks next year, but for now grouping them Tielemans & Gudmundsson seemed fair.

72-84: More DEF2-3 in this bucket, along with a couple newcomers. Mendy could be a steal if he gets his spot back of course, but that’s a big if looking at his injury record. Stipermann have solid SOT & KP numbers, especially towards the end of the year. Also, O’Connell… My candidate to become Morrison of 19/20!

85-104: Prime defensive midfielders, a bunch of BRI wingers, FWD3s and Alexis Sanchez. Ndidi & Gueye could offer decent value if you’re looking for high floor, low ceiling players to balance the team. Brighton winger rotation is tougher to predict than Man City at this point, otherwise Knockaert & March could move up the ranks slightly. Highly doubt Pukki will be nearly as good in EPL so he couldn’t make it to top 100.

105-124: Mustafi is actually good in togga-scoring, but I just can’t move him up the ranks.  Tammy, Batshuayi, Benteke & Ozil offers good upside, if they end up starting 20+ games. If Zinchenko if a defender, he should easily move up the ranks as well but for now, assuming him as a MID.

125-138: Normally I’d avoid goalies until ~150, but Allisson is special. Not only he keeps a ton of clean sheets, but also saves a lot. I expect to see him gone even earlier in many leagues, which I think will be a mistake. Gomez, Stones & Otamendi could offer great value, depending on the amount of games they end up starting. Also, expecting a decent amount of aerials from the new Watford man, Craig Dawson.

139-153: Yes, Ederson is my 4th choice goalie, as I hate depending on clean sheets. RLC injury might give Mason Mount a chance to shine under Lampard. Pedro & Shaqiri could be decent backups if you need players from those teams, otherwise you’ll be praying for a big injury all year. Holebas also offers high value if he doesn’t rotate much with Masina throughout the year.

154-168: I’m only excited about the newcomers here, mainly Mings, Jota & Enda Stevens. Also heard great things about the new Gunner, Martinelli, but doubt he’ll get that many minutes.

Missed out: Jorginho could arguably make the list, now that he’s on penalties. Smalling, Ake, PVA, Diop, Armstrong, Lingard, Davinson Sanchez, Capoue, Ben Mee, Alderweireld, Rudiger, Pererya, Hughes, Albrighton, Gray & Austin were a couple other names I’ve seen in other drafts but intentionally avoided.
