There’s a reason that my team in my main Fantrax league is lovingly named “Schlupptown Girl”. Everyone’s favourite Ghanaian (Jeffrey Schlupp, by the way) ensured we re-entered the 100 club in style thanks to a goal and a clean sheet from “defence”
Schlupp shot us to a score of 105.75, enough to top score in the third week of the Twitter differential league. Speaking of which, give me a shout if you’d like to enter. It’s not too late to catch up with @tottiandor.
Here’s the GW26 hopefuls:
Goalkeeper
Tom Heaton (47% owned)
Brighton v Burnley probably won’t be a classic which will suit two criminally under owned goalkeepers. Mat Ryan could score well for the hosts but I’m going for Heaton in this one.
Defenders
Jan Bednarek (8%)
Did us proud last week. An assist helped him to a score of 19.25. Plenty of aerials should see another good score for Bednarek.
Jannik Vestergaard (21%)
See above. Starting big centre backs who face Cardiff City tends to work.
Lewis Dunk (39%)
Didn’t go to plan the last time we started this Guy. I always have faith in big Lewis Dunk, however. At home to Burnley is as good a match up as any foe a tall centre half with an eye for goal.
Laurent Koscielny (34%)
Despite his long injury lay off, Laurent Koscielny is still Arsenal’s best defender. He’s trained again this week following illness and should be fit to lead the back line against a Huddersfield side that has managed only 13 goals this season.
Midfielders
James Ward Prowse (58%)
Fantrax managers still haven’t got the hint. JWP is the real deal in this game. Surely this will be the last week I can pick him…
Andre Gomes (20%)
Quite simply, he’s only here for the double gameweek. Everton are awful and Gomes isn’t a good FPL asset. He plays twice in GW26 though and scores sometimes so…there’s that.
Leandar Dendoncker (7%)
The highly rated Belgian is picking up a few starts at The Molineux and, thanks to the injury to Ruben Neves, that should continue this week at home to Newcastle United. His goal at Goodison Park hasn’t harmed his fantasy value.
Forwards
Oumar Niasse (9%)
Picking Cardiff forwards isn’t generally a good FPL tactic. However, in Oumar Niasse they finally have the battering ram they’ve been looking for. Niasse’s style should mean he won’t be goal dependant but he should find himself on the scoresheet a few times before the season’s end. This week vs Southampton presents a good chance.
Jurgen Locadia (6%)
The Dutchman hadn’t set the Premier League alight since his arrival. He is, however, starting to earn his spot in the team and, in turn, has started finding the net. Gradually.
Ashley Barnes (41%)
The Premier League’s best Austrian (Controversial) makes the cut once again. Burnley actually got a Premier League penalty and Barnes actually scored it last week. He gets the nod once more.
