Hands up if you’re top of your draft league going to the new year…
While leagues aren’t won at this stage, they can already be lost. As a Liverpool fan currently leading my FPL it’s fair to say I’m enjoying this season but the phrase “it’s still early days” is never far from my mind.
So if you’re fighting for a title, looking to avoid the wooden spoon or simply banking on those who have lost interest to make your league position respectable, draft ranks are exactly what you need.
As the second half of the season gets underway, here are your ranks ahead of the 20th week.
Goalkeepers
For those chasing the clean sheet, Leicester and Kasper Schmeichel may be the best bet against Cardiff this weekend.
Meanwhile, Lucasz Fabianski has an excellent chance of protecting a cleanie while making some saves on top.
Defenders
Marcos who? With Goalonso seemingly a thing of the best, a void for a dream FPL defender has been created. Step forward Lucas Digne. Free kicks, key passes, defensive contributions and shooting from everywhere: Digne has it all. A double in GW19 helped him to a 30+ haul. Keeping up this rate of scoring will see him finish as Fantrax’s top defender.
If it’s a differential pick your after, out of position Fulham boys Joe Bryan and Callum Chambers should be good value against Huddersfield as well as old FPL favourite Jose Holebas who should see attacking returns against Newcastle.
Midfielders
As they fling themselves back into the title conversation, it’s hard to ignore Tottenham assets at the moment. The return to form of Christian Eriksen has been particularly welcomed and a home fixture against Wolves should see another good points return for the Great Dane.
Felipe Anderson is outrageously good and should have more fun against that awful Burnley side while no one has felt the new manager bounce quite like Nathan Redmond at Southampton. Oh, and Paul Pogba. I suppose.
Forwards
Tottenham are on form, meaning Harry Kane is on form. He was nearly a no brained for top spot in the forwards but while Kane is on “form”, Son Heung Min is on “fire”. Son is more of a rotation risk but should he start then he should be in line for another monster haul.
Mad always, you could get away with starting any of the 20 forwards listed here in your Fantrax lineup this weekend. I particularly like the look of Gerard Deulofeu and Aleksandar Mitrovic if you’re looking for a more hipster approach this week.
